Adventure Racing (AR) is a multi-discipline sport in which participants trek, bike and paddle in natural settings, while using a map and compass to locate Control Points (CPs). AR traces its roots back to events such as Eco-Challenge. Events range from a few hours (Sport) to several days (Expedition). Often confused with obstacle races and mud runs dubbed "adventure races"; Traditional AR stands alone as an extreme endurance sport requiring highly specialized gear and technical knowledge.
