How to Create an Audience

An audience is a collection of subreddits that you want to research. This article will show you how to create an audience so you can start your research.

Note: You can also use one of our curated audiences to get started right away.

1. Start with Keyword Searches

Use the subreddit search feature to find communities based on keywords your target audience might use:

  • Pick 2-4 words your target audience might mention

  • Use short and broad synonyms for your audience

  • The more keywords you add, the more refined the results become

2. Review Search Results

GummySearch will surface subreddits relevant to your search terms. You can:

  • Browse through the list of suggested subreddits

  • View basic information about each community

  • Check community size and engagement levels

3. Add Subreddits to Your Audience

When you find relevant subreddits:

  • Click to add them to a new or existing audience

  • Name your audience for easy reference

  • Continue adding multiple subreddits to build a comprehensive audience

After creating an audience with a few subreddits, GummySearch automatically recommends similar communities you might have missed. This feature works by:

  • Analyzing the subreddits you've selected

  • Finding other communities where those same Redditors participate

  • Suggesting relevant communities based on user overlap
